Meeting Evangelist & His Wife & Shaking Wife's Hand

Post by digitaldisciple »

I was taking some type of tour with a group of other Christians when I was pulled aside from the group and introduced to Billy Graham & his wife Ruth. I greeted Mr. Graham and spoke with Ruth and she held out her hand for me to shake it and I took it.
It was very real. They were seated at a table and enjoying a meal when I was brought up. I remember thinking I better call my grandmother and tell her I met Billy Graham because she loves his preaching. It was that real.

My interpretation of this dream would be that it is prophetic in the sense that I am facing lonliness of divorce and have been wondering about finding a husband who is a godly influence. Lonliness does horrible things to you and I've been tempted a great deal and come close to settling for what I know is not God's best for me. I think this is encouragement for me that God will send me a godly man with whom I will be able to connect with. I believe God is sending me a vision so I don't settle for less.
I feel that this is right but am also seeking confirmation.

(June 10, 1920 – June 14, 2007)
The day before Ruth's death, Billy Graham released a statement through the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association stating, "Ruth is my soul mate and best friend, and I cannot imagine living a single day without her by my side. I am more and more in love with her today than when we first met over 65 years ago as students at Wheaton College."

Many of us know a lot about Billy Graham, but I did not know much about his wife Ruth Graham except that they had been married a very long time and that she had died a few years ago, so I went and looked it up. Her faithfulness and the statement above made by Billy Graham about his wife Ruth Graham really caught my attention out of the whole thing. Unfortunately, many people in this life settle for whatever comes along first in their marriages and do not wait for God's plan for their marriage. We as Christians need to be ones who are so committed to our spouses that we can give statements like Billy did about Ruth when all is said and done in the end. I have been married now going on 14 years myself and I can't imagine being with anyone else ever. Definately worth the wait.

When you see shaking of hands in a dream it most often signifies introduction or agreement as in covenant. Maybe a clue here, what kind of relationship did you grandmother have with her husband? Sounds like you already have a good feeling for what this dream represents to you. Hope this helps a little more.

in Christ,

I know I never waited for confirmation with my previous marriage and I know for certain I don't want to go through all the pain I went through before. It's not worth it. I am praying for my ability to surrender to God's will and His timing.
Congrats to you. It's encouraging to see other couples making it. :)

This is my new husband and myself at the Billy Graham Library. I had forgotten all about this posting until he suggested we go there.

We met online on May 29th through Facebook. We met in person on June 17th almost a month after I posted this.

We married on August 3rd and we've hit it off so well. We get along great and although we've had rough times due to outside factors we are so well matched in every way we've weathered through these things with much Faith and prayer. It's like we were made for each other. God is so wonderful! We have been so blessed by Him.[/img]

i'd be interested to know how the symbols in your dream represented this though

in your dream...all you did was meet the Grahams but you somehow equated it to the subject of a future spouse

i believe you...plus you posted the picture to prove it

i'm just wondering why you interpreted your dream the way you did

I was praying and fasting during this period of time. God uses symbols we usually personally understand to communicate with us. I had been praying to be married to a Godly man. Billy Graham is who I would equate to a truly Godly man.

Had I not met them as a couple I really could not have drawn this conclusion but meeting them both as a married couple drew in the subject of marraige.

My husband also has a call to preach that has been spoken over him by many different people. (I also prayed for a husband called to preach.)

I've also had it spoken over me that I was born to write.

The events that have happened since have confirmed all this for me. I know that God's word doesn't return void.
