Recurring Dream

The first part of the dream last night that I remember is standing in line with a girl that I have been dating for several months somewhere near a swimming pool and waiting to pay a fee for something. I didn’t have my checkbook with me and she was going to pay but at the last minute she didn’t do it. I told her I left my checkbook “somewhere” but she said I needed to go get it. So I left.

Next part of the dream is I realize I am supposed to lead worship at my “dad’s church” which I think is where my checkbook is too. I start heading that way, walking, with what appears to be plenty of time to get there before the 7:30 start. “Someone” gives me directions how to get there from where I am, not sure where I am and not sure why I don’t know, but the first place I walk into is a casino. I walk through the casino and keep walking trying to make my way to the church. The directions are a little confusing so I choose to go down one certain road not knowing if it is the right way or not. After walking for a while I realize this is not the right way. I am running out of time before 7:30.

I stop and ask “someone” for directions and they at least tell me the name of the street that I need to be on and point me in the right direction. I am standing at a three way intersection when a “van” pulls up slowly and I am able to get them to stop and ask them to give me a ride. They say sure. I get in the van to find several old, feeble, people inside. They say they need to drop off one of the people and then they will take me to the church. We pull up at the house and the driver begins to unload one of the people. I believe they were in a wheelchair. He takes them inside and I notice it is 7:15. He never comes back out and finally I walk inside to find people sitting around watching TV and the driver no where to be found. They assure me he will be right back but I decide I don’t have time to wait. So, I leave.

I start walking back towards the three way intersection looking to hitch a ride with someone else but the cars are going too fast to stop them and ask for a ride. I then spot a church and decide that is the best place to ask for a ride. I am at the church and cars are pulling up to the door unloading their passengers. A truck pulls up and I ask them if they will give me a ride and they said no. I even show him my music and tell him what I was going to do but he still said no.

I start walking towards the three way intersection again but there are no cars now. I am running out of time and I decide that the best chance I have of getting a ride is to go back to the church and ask someone there.

As I am walking up, the truck that originally told me no pulls up and says he will give me a ride. I start to open the truck door and he points me to the bed of the truck and says to get in there. I walk to the back of the truck and there is a cage there with a pit bull in the cage and the dog is going crazy. The driver tells me there is a separate part of the cage I can ride in and points to the latch to open it. I am standing on the tailgate trying to open the latch. Holding onto the truck with one hand and trying to open the latches with the other. There is more than one latch and it is taking forever. I realize I am running out of time and I don’t understand why the driver won’t just come to the back of the truck and undo the latches for me. I wake up.

I have had parts of this same dream several times over the past few months. It always has to do with me having to go to the church to lead worship but I never seem to make there and there is always a lot of delays.

Are you IRL a worship leader? Or are you waiting for the time when you will be one? I am not the bottom-line worship leader at my church, but I have led a few times, and I feel that I will be doing this more on a full-time basis at some point. There are several people on our worship team that are at that point; we are sort of in training, and waiting for whatever door needs to be opened for us. I'm wondering if you might be in that same position, and if these dreams might have to do with the feeling that things keep getting in your way.

If that's the case, I want to tell you to relax, because God knows precisely where you are and is able to bring you out of hiding, so to speak, at the exact right time. And this is a year for coming out of hiding, so I want to speak hope to you.

If that's not the case, then we can look at these dreams another way.....

I was in fulltime music ministry 7 years ago but no longer due to a divorce for immoral reasons.

Well, God can restore. He's done it before, and He will do it again. Even with music ministers. Our redeemer lives, bro, and that means He can take a waylaid life and put it back on track!
