Lily of Valley Not Blooming

I had 4 live miniature Christmas trees as decorations for the holidays that were drying out so I put them all in the bathroom sink and ran water over the roots.

Then, I was in the backyard of my brother in law's house...he was standing up on the deck. There was lily-of-the-valley growing all over the back yard (invasive nuisance weed) and it wasn't blooming. There were some growing up on the deck and the roots were growing through the bottom of the deck. I told my BIL that maybe he needed to spray the roots with herbicide to kill them.

There was also a scene about my dad (firefighter) having some sort of video screen for his work...a camera that they use for fires or something.
