When I looked down at my feet i noticed that the toenail polish on my big toe (of my left foot) was missing!
I was embarrassed to see the missing polish on the toe so i put the sock back on my feet.

I REALLY wanted to walk barefoot so I took off my socks.

Ok here's a thought, but I could be way off, so discard if it doesn't fit.
what immediately came up in me is feet, walking in the spirit.
Ephesians 6:15 "and having shod your feet in preparation (to face the enemy with firm footed stability)...."
Taking your socks off and seeing your toenail unpolished, feeling embarrassed.....perhaps there is something in your life you believe you are prepared for, but God is cautioning you to take a closer look and make sure that everything is in order...to protect you from embarrassment or the deceit of the enemy...
God cares about everything even the smallest details in our lives, even toenail polish.
