Buried toes

Seeing someone's toes buried in the carpet and then later seeing the soles of their feet. It was like the person was on their knees but their soles were in plain sight to me. Any explanations concerning hiding toes in carpet?

There's a term 'sweep it under the carpet (or rug),' meaning to ignore or hide something. And I kept getting that while reading this. If someone's toes are under the carpet, than that'd mean they're on the verge of walking into something that they may be ignoring or that which is hidden.
