Transitions in Dreams

I know that if in a dream you are walking down a hall or you remember going from point A to point B in a dream it is symbolic of a life journey.
What if you go from one point in a dream and then appear in another point and you saw this other place you were supposed to go but you don't recall going from A to B?
What are the different transitions and what do they mean? Are 3 different scenes all related or are they separate parts of a dream? Do they mean the same thing just in different ways? I'm a little confused on this part.
Can anyone clarify?
