black octopus

in my dream, i had to go on this sail boat with some people
i kept seeing how big the ocean was too from a 3rd person perspective
then at a point i was called for urgently updeck because a giant black octopus was circling the boat
the captain had apparently poured oil or some other flammable substance around and tried to deter the creature with the fire
i'm posting this because the creature was black, which is unusual, but also because i've had dreams of other nasty creatures that color
black, large, and growled ewww
